MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 16, 2007)--- The Milligan college men’s tennis team suffered a 5-4 loss to Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Virginia Intermont College in a Monday evening match.  The loss will bring the Buffs’ record to 4-8 overall, 2-2 in conference play. Virginia Intermont moves to 6-5 overall, 4-1 AAC behind the victory.

Milligan’s Ryan Reynolds (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Tom Jones (Johnson City, Tenn.) won the No. 1 doubles match, 8-2, as teammates Jonathon Ryan (Wangaratta, Australia) and Charles Williams (Perth, Australia) succeeded in winning the No. 2 match 8-5.  The No. 3 match would go to Virginia Intermont by a score of 9-8 (2).

In singles play, Reynolds and Jones would record Milligan’s only victories as they won the No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches, respectively. Virginia Intermont would claim the remainder of the singles matches to gain the slim 5-4 victory over Milligan.

On April 20, the AAC Tournament will begin. The tournament will be held at the Liberty Bell Tennis Complex in Johnson City, Tenn.  The playing times for the Buffs and Lady Buffs have yet to be announced.
