Carson-Newman wins over Buffs, Lady Buffs

JEFFERSON CITY, TN (March 25, 2007) --- The Milligan College men’s and women’s tennis teams each lost Sunday afternoon at NCAA Division II foe Carson-Newman (Tenn.) College. The Buffs lost 6-3 while the Lady Buffs suffered a 9-0 loss.

The Buffs scored two early points with a pair of victories in doubles competition. In No. 1 doubles, the Johnson City duo of Ryan Reynolds and Tom Jones won 8-4 over Giuseppe Schwarz and Matt Stanley while Johnathon Ryan (Wangaratta, Australia) and Charles Williams (Perth, Australia) took an 8-5 victory over Mike Swanson and Jack Harvie in their No. 2 doubles match. Williams also won his No. 2 singles match over Schwarz 6-2, 7-5.

Both teams will return to action Wednesday, March 28, at 3 p.m. against UVA-Wise for an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest.
