JOHNSON
CITY, TN (March 10, 2007) --- The Milligan College women's
track and field team earned seven All-American honors and
the team finished 16th at the NAIA Indoor Track &
Field National Championships Saturday afternoon inside
ETSU's Memorial Center.
Josh Ferry (Bloomington, Ind.) also ran to
All-American status for the Buffs’ track team.
The day
started when sophomore
Jacklyn Talbert (Mt. Carmel, Tenn.) ran to
All-American status with a fourth place finish in the mile
with a time of 5:04.96.
Kortney Goulds (Johnson City, Tenn.) also
finished fourth in the 1,000 meters to earn All-American
status.
In the
5,000 meters Rebecca McDowell led the race early and also
finished fourth. Her time was 17.58.57 in the race.
Milligan’s championship ended with the distance medley relay
team’s new school record of 12:20.51 for a sixth place
finish. Talbert started the race then handed off to
Brittany Bales
(Kingsport, Tenn.) with the third leg ran by Goulds and
anchored by MacKenzie
LaBonte (Port Charlotte, Fla.)
Ferry
finished sixth, with a time of 1:21.25, in the 600 meters to
pick up All-American status.
Wayland
Baptist University captured the team title with 51 points
and Oklahoma Baptist fell one point short in second place.
Black Hills State, Simon Fraser and Cedarville rounded out
the top five. Milligan’s 13 points put the Lady Buffs in 16th
place, two points away from a tie for 14th.
