MILLIGAN
COLLEGE, TN (April 26, 2007) --- Dobyns-Bennett High School’s
Greg Cathers signed with Milligan College to continue his
swimming career on the collegiate level.
An All Big-6
swimmer, Cathers qualified for the state competition all three
years as a member of the Indians’ team. He earned All Big-6 in
the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. Cathers holds
career-best times of 22.67 in the 50-yard and a 50.17 in the
100-yard.
Cathers was coached by Jorge
Blasini as a senior and by Nathan Love in his
sophomore and junior seasons at Dobyns-Bennett.
The announcement of the newly formed Milligan swimming team took
place on January 24 at a media event inside the Steve Lacy
Fieldhouse. At the media event, Ron Goehring was named
head coach of the team. Milligan formerly had a swimming club
from 1977 to 1986 and competed against various club and
intercollegiate squads.
He is the son
of Kevin and Amy Cathers of Kingsport, Tenn. An
AIM scholar, he plans to major in human performance and exercise
science while at Milligan.
