The game remained
scoreless until the
eighth inning behind
strong starting pitching
performances from V.I.’s
Celia Henline and
Milligan’s Maegan
Hambrick (Lexington,
Ky.).
In the eighth, Intermont
scored four runs on just
one hit as some mishaps
by the Milligan defense
opened the door for the
Lady Cobra offense.
The Lady Buffs responded
in the bottom half of
the eighth inning, when
Laken Stewart
(Pennington Gap, Va.)
singled and Heather
Poindexter
(Germantown, N.C.)
scored on a wild pitch.
Megan Aldridge
(Johnson City, Tenn.)
then hit a two-run homer
to bring Milligan within
one. The Lady Buffs
were unable to complete
the comeback however,
and fell 4-3.
Game 2: Milligan 6 V.I.

Milligan responded in
the second game of the
doubleheader when
Poindexter got the
scoring started in the
third inning. Poindexter
doubled, stole third and
was brought home by a
Mallory Tincher
(Jacksonville, Fla.)
sac-fly.
Jessica Blevins
(Elizabethton, Tenn.)
homered in the fourth
inning to extend the
lead, and three runs in
the third pushed it
further. Holly Napier
(Pennington Gap,
Va.) scored in the sixth
inning for the sixth and
final run.
Blevins finished the
game 3-for-3 with two
runs scored and an RBI
and Leah White
(Gray, Tenn.) was
2-for-3 with two RBI.

(Clermont, Fla.) got the
win on the mound for the
Lady Buffs, going six
innings, scattering four
hits and striking out
three. Kayla Walker
(Tracy, Calif.)
tossed a scoreless ninth
to finish the game for
Milligan.
