12, 2007) --- The
Milligan College
softball team split a
doubleheader with
Appalachian Athletic
Conference (AAC)
opponent Union College
by scores of 2-5 and 5-4
on Thursday in
Barbourville, Ky. The
split moves the Lady
Buffs to 24-18 overall
on the season and 4-4 in
the AAC.
Game 1: Milligan 2 Union

Jennifer Wise
(Clermont, Fla.) was
2-for-3 for Milligan and
Heather Poindexter
(Germanton, N.C.)
and Mallory Tincher
(Jacksonville, Fla.)
were each 1-for-3 with a
run scored, but a strong
pitching performance
from Union’s Sarah
Driver held the Lady
Buffs in check.
Kaila McSpedon was
3-for-3 with three RBI
and two runs scored for
the Union offense
against Milligan pitcher
Maegan Hambrick
(Lexington, Ky.) who
went the distance,
allowing three earned
runs on nine hits with
one strikeout in the
loss.
Game 2: Milligan 5 Union
4 (8 innings)
The Lady Buffs were able
to force a split with an
extra-inning win in game
two of the doubleheader,
spearheaded by
Jessica Blevins’s
(Elizabethton, Tenn.)
2-for-2 day that
included two walks,
three runs scored and a
homerun.
Poindexter also played a
major role in the
victory in game two,
going 2-for-5 with three
RBI, including a two run
double in the eighth.
Megan Aldridge
(Johnson City, Tenn.)
was 1-for-4 with a run
scored.
With the score tied 3-3
at the end of
regulation, Poindexter’s
double put the Lady
Buffs up by two.
Milligan pitcher Wise
was able to hold Union
to just one in the
bottom of the eighth for
the victory. Wise threw
all eight innings,
allowing four earned
runs while striking out
six to improve her
record to 12-5 on the
season.
Milligan will again
compete in an AAC
doubleheader on
Saturday, April 14,
against the Univ. of Va.
at Wise at 1 p.m. in
Wise, Va.
