Milligan knocked out of AAC Championship

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (May 3, 2007) --- After a 1-0 loss against Montreat (N.C.) College in a losers’ bracket game eliminated the Milligan College Lady Buffs from the Appalachian Athletic Conference Softball Championship. However, due to Milligan’s No. 3 ranking in the NAIA Region XII poll, the Lady Buffs have earned a bid to the NAIA Region XII Championship scheduled to begin Wednesday in Athens, Tenn.

Montreat scored the only run of the contest in the third inning when Haven Payne came home on a double from Rachel Stowe.

Maegan Hambrick (Lexington, Ky.) suffered the loss on the mound for the Lady Buffs. Hambrick pitched a complete game and scattered seven hits with the one run given up. She also struck out six Montreat batters.

The Lady Buffs only managed two hits in the game, one from Mallory Tincher (Jacksonville, Fla.) and the other from Melanie Strickler (Kingsport, Tenn.)

The NAIA Region XII Softball Championship bracket will be announced Monday, with play set to begin on Wednesday.
