Aldridge named AAC Player of the Year

Senior third baseman Megan
Aldridge (Johnson
City, Tenn.) has been named the 2007 Appalachian Athletic Conference
(AAC) Player of the Year after her standout season in which she set
the school record for career home runs and home runs in a season.
She hit a conference-high 14 home runs during the regular season.
Her 14 home runs were ranked sixth nationally. She also added a .388
batting average with a team-high 47 RBIs.
Jessica
Blevins (Elizabethton,
Tenn.) also earned a spot on the All-AAC team after her sophomore
season at Milligan. Blevins led the team in batting average (.404),
doubles (18) and runs scored (40). She was second with 42 RBIs and 9
home runs.
Laken
Stewart (Pennington
Gap, Va.), Mallory
Tincher (Jacksonville,
Fla.) and Leah
Fritts (Knoxville, Tenn.)
were placed on the All-AAC honorable mention team.
Stewart hit .309 for the season with 33 runs scored and 15 RBIs. She
also hit four home runs. Tincher was third on the team with her 19
RBIs and she batted .313 in her sophomore season. Fritts ended her
senior campaign with 12 RBIs and 29 runs scored. Fritts also
recorded 19 stolen bases, tied for second most in the conference.
Aldridge, Stewart and Holly
Napier (Pennington Gap, Va.) all were named to the AAC
All-Academic team.
