Milligan Softball begins postseason play
with No. 4 seed in AAC Championship
MILLIGAN COLLEGE,
TN (April 29, 2007) --- The 2007 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC)
Softball Championship’s bracket has been announced and Milligan
College enters as the No. 4 seed after their 8-6 conference record
this season. The Lady Buffs tied for fourth with Tennessee Wesleyan
College and the two will play each other in the first round on
Wednesday, May 2.
The Milligan,
Tennessee Wesleyan contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Whitetop Creek
Park in Bristol, Tenn., site for the entire 2007 AAC Softball
Championship.
In their earlier
meeting, Milligan split a doubleheader with Tennessee Wesleyan at
Anglin Field. The Lady Buffs won the first game 4-1, but lost the
second contest 1-0 on April 19.
Milligan and
Tennessee Wesleyan will be the third of four first-round games on
Wednesday in Bristol. The first round begins when regular season
co-champion UVA-Wise faces No. 8 seed Bluefield (Va.) College at 9
a.m. No. 3 Virginia Intermont College and No. 6 Montreat (N.C.)
College plays at 11 a.m. followed by the Milligan, Tennessee
Wesleyan game at 1. The final first-round match up is between No. 2
seed Union (Ky.) College, co-AAC regular-season champs, and King
(Tenn.) College, the No. 7 seed, at 3 p.m. The four winners of the
first round games will play semifinal contest later in the evening
at 5 and 7 p.m.
