Buffs, Lady Buffs fall to Georgetown

HARROGATE, TN (April 6, 2007) --- The Milligan College men’s and women’s tennis teams each suffered a loss Friday against NAIA foe Georgetown (Ky.) College. The Buffs lost 6-3 while the Lady Buffs were defeated 9-0.

On the men’s side, the first point for Milligan came in doubles action. The Johnson City duo of Ryan Reynolds and Tom Jones won 8-3 in the No. 1 slot, but Georgetown won the other two doubles matches.

Charles Williams (Perth, Australia) and Bryan Upshaw (Kingsport, Tenn.) each won in singles action. Williams won the first set 7-5 then lost the second set 6-2, but he dominated in the tiebreaker to pick up the point for Milligan. Upshaw easily defeated Frankie Roberts 8-1 in the No. 6 spot.

The Lady Buffs and Buffs squads will return to action Wednesday afternoon at Mars Hill (N.C.) College. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m.
