Milligan picks up AAC win over Cavs
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (January 13, 2007) --- The Milligan College men’s
basketball team defeated the Cavaliers of UVa.-Wise by a score of 57-45
on Saturday night in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (game) in the
Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Milligan jumped out to an early lead, opening the game on a 12-0 run,
and led 31-17 at the half.
Zach Dezarn (Franklin, Ohio) and Tyler Estepp (Limestone,
Tenn.) were the leading scorers in the game with 16 and 15 points
respectively, and Jeff Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) added nine points
and 12 rebounds.
The Buff defense played a solid game, forcing tough shots, and UVa.-Wise
to shoot just 2-for-26 from three point range on the night.
The victory improves Milligan to 13-5 overall and 6-2 in the AAC. UVa.-Wise
falls to 5-14 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
The Buffs will travel to Montreat, N.C., on Tuesday, Jan. 16, for an AAC
game with Montreat College beginning at 7:30 p.m.
