MILLIGAN
COLLEGE, TN (January 27, 2007) --- The Milligan College
men’s basketball team lost a crucial game which lasted
nearly two and a half hours and included an incredible 63
fouls in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) on
Saturday night to the King College Tornado by a score of
92-79.
Milligan came out hot and took a 38-35 lead into halftime.
A three-pointer from King’s J.T. Blair tied the game in the
opening minute of the second half and started the seesaw
battle back and forth as the game was tied six times before
King eventually took the lead for good.
The Buffs had some solid scoring performances from
Adrian Harrison
(Greensboro, N.C.) who had 16 points,
Zach Dezarn
(Franklin, Ohio) with 17,
Danny McKeehan
(Morrow, Ohio) who had 13 and
Josh Terry
(Jonesville, Va.) whose late game threes nearly propelled
Milligan back into the lead, finished with 12 points.
Unfortunately, Milligan could find no answer for King’s
RuShaun Reeves who poured in 22 points and Josh Edwards who
tallied 18 points coming off of the bench.
In a game with 63 fouls, the free throw line will inevitably
be a factor. This game proved that point as King shot an
impressive 31-for-35 (89 percent) from the line while
Milligan shot just 28-for-44 (64 percent). Both teams also
lost three players apiece due to fouling out in the game’s
most pivotal minutes.
The loss drops the Buffs to 16-7 overall and into a
fourth-place tie with King at 8-4 in the AAC.
Milligan will challenge the AAC first-place Bluefield
College Rams on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 7:30 p.m., in
Bluefield, Va. The last time the Buffs and Rams butted
heads, Milligan prevailed with a 93-72 win.
