Milligan pulls away late for 66-55 win
DAYTON, TN
(January 4, 2007) --- The Milligan College men’s basketball team
used a 15-4 run over the final four minutes to capture a 66-55
Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) win at Bryan (Tenn.) College
Thursday night. With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 10-4 on the
season and remain tied for second place in the conference with a 4-1
AAC record while Bryan falls to 1-4 in the AAC and 2-12 overall.
Leading the way
for Milligan was sophomore Jeff
Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) with his 20 points and eight
rebounds. Senior forward Adrian
Harrison (Greensboro, N.C.) added 15 points and grabbed
six rebounds while Serge Babo
(Indianapolis, Ind.) blocked two shots to go with his seven rebounds
in the win.
Milligan took a
29-24 lead to halftime only to see Bryan come back to tie the
contest at 51 late in the second half. During the Buffs’ run at the
end of the contest, Josh Terry (Jonesville, Va.) nailed a
three pointer to spark the Buffs and Barnes and
Tyler Estepp (Limestone,
Tenn.) hit key free throws to ice the game to preserve the Buffs’
victory.
The next game for
Milligan is Saturday afternoon against AAC foe Covenant College in
Lookout Mountain, Ga. with a 4 p.m. scheduled tip off.
