Milligan men defeat Brevard
BREVARD, NC (January 11, 2007) --- The Milligan College men’s basketball
team won a close game with NCAA Div II opponent Brevard College on
Thursday night in Brevard, N.C., by a score of 75-68.
The game was tied at 59 with just three minutes to play when Milligan’s
Zach Dezarn (Franklin, Ohio) rattled off five consecutive points
including a three-pointer with just 2:30 left on the clock to give
Milligan a lead which they would not relinquish.
Jeff Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) led all scorers with 17 points,
Tyler Estepp (Limestone, Tenn.) and Adrian Harrison
(Greensboro, N.C.) had 15 apiece and Danny McKeehan (Morrow,
Ohio) had 12.
Harrison also contributed three blocks to the Milligan effort, while
McKeehan and Estepp grabbed eight and seven rebounds respectively.
Milligan won the game at the free throw line, shooting 34-of-45 (76
percent) from the charity stripe, while Brevard shot just 19-of-21.
The Buffs also won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Brevard
41-27.
The win improves Milligan to 12-5 on the season. They remain 5-2 in the
Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC.)
Milligan will play UVa.-Wise in an AAC match up on Saturday, Jan. 13, at
7:30 p.m. in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
