MILLIGAN
COLLEGE, TN (May 22, 2007) --- In their first ever appearance at
the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship, the Milligan College
Buffs ended their first round with a team total of 331 at the
par-72, 6,950 yard Indiana National Golf Club in Plymouth.
NAIA Region XII medalist
Terrance Evans (Galax, Va.) shot 38 over his last nine holes
to finish the first round with an 81. Teammate Ryan Morris
(Frankfort, Ind.) also posted an 81 in the opening round.
Seniors Matt Barefoot (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Matt
Ongie (Johnson City, Tenn.) rounded out the Milligan team
score with rounds of 84 and 85 respectively.
Oklahoma City
leads after the first day with a seven-under-par score of 281,
six shots in front of Oklahoma Christian while Northwood (Texas)
is at even par.
Bruno Buccolo,
from Oklahoma Christian, and Daniel Mitchell of Oklahoma City
are tied for the individual lead with rounds of 68 in the first
round. Mitchell’s teammate Ryan Clatworthy is at
three-under-par.
Barefoot will
be the first Buff to tee off on Wednesday with a 1 p.m. tee
time. Second-round action is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. in
Plymouth.
