(February 16, 2007) --- The Milligan College baseball team lost
at Southern Wesleyan (S.C.) University by the score of 5-4
Friday afternoon in the first game of a three-game series. With
the results, Milligan now stands at 1-3 while Southern Wesleyan
moves to 6-2 on the young season.
The Buffs
were led by Justin Sauceman
(Alcoa, Tenn.), Todd Sangid
(Johnson City, Tenn.) and
Danny Bacon (St. Petersburg, Fla.). Each went 2-for-5
at the plate. Sauceman accounted for two RBIs and he scored a
run while Bacon added two runs. The Buffs’ other run was scored
by Garrett Reed
(Gray, Tenn.)
Senior
Brett Seybert
(Columbiana, Ohio) suffered the loss on the mound for Milligan.
Seybert gave up three earned runs on six hits over his six
innings of work. He struck out four batters and walked one.
Jeff England
was the winning pitcher for Southern Wesleyan. He also pitched
six innings while giving up two runs on five hits with five
strikeouts.
At the plate
for Southern Wesleyan, Dustin Smith, Kody Hightower and Brandon
Brown each delivered two hits.
Milligan and
Southern Wesleyan will conclude their series Saturday afternoon
with a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m. in Central, S.C.
