SALEM, VA (March 22, 2007) --- The Milligan
College baseball traveled to Roanoke College Wednesday
evening and came back with a 10-3 win. The victory
improves the Buffs' record to 11-15 while Roanoke moves
to 4-14.
Milligan's
lead-off batter, Baker DeCamp (Miami, Fla.), hit
a solo homerun over the wall in right field to put the
Buffs in front 1-0.
With the bases loaded in the top of the second,
Spencer Street (Jonesborough, Tenn.) hit a fly ball
to right field, deep enough to score Ben Huff
(Bristol, Tenn.) from third and give the Buffaloes a 2-0
lead. Milligan took a 3-0 lead in the third. With a
runner on first, Huff singled to center. A fielding
error by the Maroons allowed Clint Dorman
(Savannah, Ga.) to round the bases and scored the third
run.
A five-run
fourth inning gave the Buffs control for the rest of the
contest. Roanoke scored all three of their runs in the
eighth inning and Milligan posted two more in their half
of the ninth inning.
Toby
Hoyle (Johnson City, Tenn.) pitched 7 1/3 innings
for the win. He allowed three runs on six hits to pick
up his first win of the year.
Street
finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs
scored, and his first home run of the season while
Dorman also went 3-for-5. DeCamp added another hit to go
with his home run to finish 2-for-6 and Justin
Sauceman (Alcoa, Tenn.) added a 2-for-4 game for the
Buffs.
Milligan
returns to Appalachian Athletic Conference action
Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader against Covenant
(Ga.) College. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
at Anglin Field.
