BREVARD,
NC (March 14, 2007) --- The Milligan College baseball team
lost both games of a doubleheader today against NCAA Div. II
Brevard College in Brevard, N.C., by scores of 6-1 and 2-1,
the second contest lasting an extra inning.
The loss
drops the Buffs overall record on the season to 8-15. The
Buffs remain an even 2-2 in the Appalachian Athletic
Conference (AAC).
Game One Milligan 1, Brevard 6
The Buffs
scored in the top of the first inning but were unable to
cross the plate again the rest of the contest.
Brevard’s
hitters scattered runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth
innings for the win.
Milligan freshman Toby Hoyle (Johnson City, Tenn.)
took the loss for Milligan.
Game Two
Milligan 1, Brevard 2
Despite a strong start from senior pitcher J.P. Penland
(Morristown, Tenn.) the Buffs were unable to add to a
1-0 lead and allowed an unearned run to score in the bottom
of the extra eighth frame.
Brevard
pitcher Jordan Hotchkiss worked all eight innings for the
win.
The Buffs will travel to Bristol, Tenn., on Sat., March 17,
to take on King College for an AAC doubleheader beginning at
1 p.m.
