Buffs eliminated by Union in AAC

KINGSPORT, TN (May 3, 2007) ---
After a win against Bluefield
(Va.) College Thursday morning to advance in the 2007 Appalachian
Athletic Conference (AAC), the Milligan College Buffs’ baseball team
lost 11-1 in an elimination game versus Union (Ky.) College in
Kingsport’s Hunter Wright Stadium.
The
Buffs picked up a 16-7 win over Bluefield in a morning elimination game
held at King College to advance to play Union.
Union
jumped in front with three runs in the first inning and they added
another run in the third and fifth innings to open a 5-0 lead over the
Buffs.
Milligan scored their only run of the game in the sixth inning when
Brandon Murphy (Johnson City, Tenn.) hit a sacrifice fly to
right field, with the bases loaded, to allow Danny Bacon
(St. Petersburg, Fla.) to come home.
Four
more Union runs in the seventh inning with two more in the eighth inning
extended their lead out to 11-1 to advance in the AAC Championship.
At the
plate for the Buffs, Jonathan Ridenour (Alcoa, Tenn.) went
2-for-3 while Baker DeCamp (Miami, Fla.), Bacon and Murphy
each added a hit to give Milligan five in the contest. Stephen
Jarrett (Gray, Tenn.) suffered the loss after he allowed four runs,
two earned, on four hits over 2 1/3 innings.
