MILLIGAN COLLEGE,

After
Saturday afternoon’s final Appalachian Athletic
Conference (AAC) doubleheaders, the Milligan
College Buffs finished tied for second in the
conference standings but lost the tiebreaker
with Montreat (N.C.) College to end up with the
No. 3 seed for the upcoming 2007 AAC Baseball
Championship. The AAC Baseball Championship will
be played at Kingsport’s Hunter Wright Stadium
with the first round scheduled to begin on
Wednesday, May 2.
The Buffs ended the regular season with a split
at Union (Ky.) College on Saturday to finish the
conference schedule with a 12-6 conference mark
tied with Montreat. Tennessee Wesleyan College
captured the regular season championship with
their perfect 16-0 record.
Milligan’s (24-23) first-round opponent will be
sixth-seeded King (Tenn.) College (30-16, 10-8
AAC). The Milligan/King contest is scheduled for
12:30 p.m. Milligan swept the AAC doubleheader
against King on March 18 in Bristol. The Buffs
won a pair of one-run contest, 3-2 and 2-1.
The first round begins Wednesday with a 9 a.m.
contest between No. 4 seed UVA-Wise and No. 5
seed Union. At 4 p.m., Montreat faces No. 7 seed
Bluefield (Va.) College after the Milligan/King
game. The last game of the day features
Tennessee Wesleyan against No. 8 seed Bryan
(Tenn.) College at 7:30 p.m.
