SAVANNAH, GA (March 11, 2006) --- The Savannah College of Art and Design men's and women's tennis teams each defeated their counterparts from Milligan College 8-1 Friday evening at the Bacon Park Tennis Courts.

After sweeping the three doubles matches, the No. 11-ranked SCAD women's team only dropped three games as they won the No. 2 through No. 6 singles matches in straight sets. Milligan's Cassie Lomison (New Castle, Ind.) rallied to defeat SCAD's Chloe Lipp at No. 1 singles. Lipp claimed the opening set 6-3 before Lomison rallied to win the second set in a tiebreaker (7-5) and the third set in a super tiebreaker (10-2).

The No. 22-ranked men's team gave the Bees a 3-0 lead after the doubles matches and won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Ryan Reynolds registered the lone Buffalo victory at No. 2 singles as he defeated Christian Werge 7-6 (2), 6-4.

The SCAD women improved to 3-1 while the men are 3-2. Both teams begin their spring break trip to central Florida with a 4 p.m. Florida Sun Conference match Friday (March 17) against Warner Southern College in Orlando, Fla.

Milligan will host NCAA Division II Mars Hill (N.C.) College Monday, March 13 at the Mathes Tennis Center for a 3 p.m. match. Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams will compete against Mars Hill.
