MILLIGAN
COLLEGE, TN (February
9, 2006)---The Milligan College men’s basketball team was
defeated by the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan College by a
score of 72-68 on Thursday night in Appalachian Athletic
Conference action at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
The Buffs
looked to be headed towards an upset victory as they led by a
score of 34-32 at the half.
A second
half of strong shooting—53 percent—from Tennessee Wesleyan
proved enough to thwart the Buffs efforts.
Much of that
shooting was done by Wesleyan guard Zach Gulmire, who led all
scorers with 22 points in the game on 7-of-12 shooting,
including 5-of-7 from three point range.
The Buffs
kept it close throughout, and actually led with just 4:30
remaining. Milligan was unable to hang on for the victory
however, as a Gulmire three at the four minute mark put the
Bulldogs ahead to stay.
Zach
Dezarn
(Franklin, Ohio) led the Buffalo charge with 15 points.
Adrian Harrison (Greensboro, N.C.) and Jeff Barnes
(Franklin, Tenn.) scored 10 and 11 points respectively.
Milligan
falls to 10-16 overall and 4-13 in the AAC with the loss. With
the victory, Tennessee Wesleyan improves to 18-8 overall and
12-5 in the conference.
The Buffs
will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 11, against Montreat
(N.C.) College. That game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Steve
Lacy Fieldhouse.
