Buffs come up short at King

BRISTOL, TN (January 24, 2006)---The Milligan College men’s basketball team lost to King College by a score of 71-69 on Tuesday night in Appalachian Athletic Conference action in Bristol, Tenn.

The loss is the fourth in a row for the Buffs, and drops their record to 9-11 overall, and 3-9 in the AAC. King improves their overall record to 10-14, and their conference mark to 6-8.

After trailing 39-29 at halftime, Milligan was able to rally in the second half, outscoring the Tornado 40-32. The comeback came up just short however, as a three point attempt from sophomore Joe Brown (Blountville, Tenn.) rimmed out in the game’s closing seconds.

Adrian Harrison (Greensboro, N.C.) led all scorers with 24 points in the game, while Zach Dezarn (Franklin, Ohio) scored 18, and Brown added 14.

King was led by post players Jonathan Woodard and Eric Ely who scored 19 and 16 points respectively.

Ely also added 12 rebounds.

Milligan will return to the court this Saturday, Jan. 28, in Bristol, Va., against Virginia Intermont College. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
