Milligan outdone by
Bryan in AAC action
MILLIGAN
COLLEGE, TN (January
11, 2006)---The Milligan College men’s basketball team was
defeated by conference foe Bryan College (Tenn.) by a score of
90-75 on Wednesday night at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
The Buffs
started the night on the right foot by jumping out to a 10-6
lead sparked by some hot shooting by freshman guard Tino
Washington (Lexington, Ky.), who had five of Milligan’s
first 10.
The lead
would not last long however, as Bryan’s Jonathan Little nailed a
three-point basket to put the Lions ahead 16-14. It was a lead
that Bryan would not relinquish.
Little led
all scorers in the game with 23 points.
Entering the
half, Milligan trailed 43-38 with the game still very much in
reach.
Early in the
second half, two separate 9-0 runs put Bryan ahead by as many as
19; a difference that proved too much to overcome.
Milligan was
led in scoring by freshman Washington who scored 18 points.
Sophomore Joe Brown (Blountville, Tenn.) added 14 points
on 6-of-8 shooting.
The loss
drops Milligan to 9-8 overall and 3-6 in the Appalachian
Athletic Conference. Bryan improves to 8-6 and 5-4.
The Buffs
will resume play in the AAC this Saturday, January 14, against
Covenant College. The game is set for a 7:30 tip-off at the
Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
