Milligan men bested by Bluefield 90-71

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (January 31, 2006)---The Milligan College Men’s basketball team lost at Appalachian Athletic Conference rival Bluefield (Va.) College Tuesday evening by a score of 90-71. With the loss the Buffaloes fall to 9-13 overall and 3-11 in the AAC meanwhile the Rams improve to 16-11 overall and 10-5 in the AAC.  

Milligan only trailed by two, 38-36, going into the half but the Rams heated up in the second half, hitting 50 percent of their shots from the field, to seal the victory.

 The Buffaloes were led by junior Zach Dezarn (Franklin, Ohio) with 18 points. Freshman Jeff Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) added 13 and Joe Brown (Blountville, Tenn.) added 9 points in a losing effort.

 The Rams were led by Ben Smalls with 25 points and Curtis Dixon added 15. Cedric Brown had 20 points, 15 rebounds and 9 blocked shots in the victory.

 Milligan will be back in action Friday, Feb. 3 at the University of Virginia at Wise for an AAC showdown. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
