MILLIGAN
COLLEGE, TN (October 14, 2006)---The Milligan College women’s
soccer team defeated visiting Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC)
rival Union (Ky.) College by a score of 4-0 on Saturday at
Anglin Field.
Rosanna Couture (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) had another
fine game in goal for the Lady Buffs, with five saves in her
seventh shutout of the season and an offensive onslaught of 31
shots (15 on goal) paved the way for Milligan’s four goals.
Freshman standout Hanna Lovbrand (Orebro, Sweden) got the
scoring started in the 13th minute with an assist
from Dagmar Arnardottir (Kopvagur, Iceland). Lovbrand
also scored the Lady Buffs’ last goal of the game in the 61st
minute off of a deflected Laurie Selman (Jackson, Miss.)
shot.
Lovbrand now has 13 goals in her freshman season.
Kristin Zutt (Louisville, Ky.) scored in the 29th
minute on a shot from 18 yards out that was just beyond the
reach of Union goalkeeper Brittany Puryear. Puryear recorded 11
saves in the loss.
Zutt also added an assist on Sarah Sereno’s
(Williamsport, Penn.) goal in the 57th minute.
The victory moves Milligan’s record to 8-7 overall and 5-3 in
the AAC. Union drops to 4-11 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
The Lady Buffs will play again on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m.
versus Southern Virginia University at Anglin Field.
