HOUGHTON,
NY (October 7, 2006) --- The
Milligan College women’s soccer team
fell 2-1 on Saturday afternoon
against No. 3 Houghton College.

Todd Miner returned to
their alma mater during Homecoming
activities at Houghton.
After the match, Milligan now stands
at 6-7 while Houghton moves to
12-0-1 on the season.
Houghton’s Hannah Swift scored on a
penalty kick to end the first half
and give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead
going into halftime.
The second goal for Houghton came in
the 52nd minute when
Rebecca Smith scored, with an assist
from Bethany Kowalczyk.
Milligan cut the Houghton lead in
half when
Dagmar Arnardottir (Kopvagur,
Iceland) scored on a direct kick in
the 62nd minute.
In goal,
Rosanna Couture
(Oakville, Ontario, Canada) recorded
seven saves for Milligan.
Next for Milligan is a trip to play
at Bluefield (Va.) College Monday,
October 9. The Appalachian Athletic
Conference contest is set for a 5
p.m. kickoff.
