Lady Buffs defeat No. 20 Berry
MILLIGAN COLLEGE,
TN (October 21, 2006) ---The Milligan College women’s soccer team
defeated NAIA 20th-ranked Berry (Ga.) College by a score
of 2-0 Saturday night at Anglin Field in their last scheduled game
of the regular season.
Kristin Zutt (Louisville, Ky.) got the scoring started in the
10th minute on an assist from Dagmar Arnardottir (Kopvagur,
Iceland).
The Milligan defense held Berry to seven shots and goalkeeper
Rosanna Couture (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) notched six saves
for the shutout.
Beth Toner (Rote, Penn.) came off the bench to add the second
goal in the 53rd minute.
The win improves the Lady Buffs’ record to 9-7 overall while they
remain 5-3 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC). Berry falls
to 11-5 overall.
Milligan is scheduled to play next in the AAC Conference Tournament,
to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Milligan, the fourth seed, will face
fifth seeded Tennessee Wesleyan College in a first-round match. The
contest will be played at Anglin Field and the time will be released
Sunday. In their earlier game, Milligan defeated Tennessee Wesleyan
4-0 on October 4 in Athens, Tenn.
