ATHENS, TN (November 29, 2006) --- The Milligan
College women’s basketball team was defeated by a
score of 96-80 by Tennessee Wesleyan College in
their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opener
on Wednesday night in Athens, Tenn.
Leading the way for Milligan was Rikki Baughman
(Elizabethton, Tenn.) with 25 points and 11
rebounds.
Hali Sparks
(Erwin, Tenn.), Leah Anderson (Lexington,
Ky.) and Candace Shelton (Flag Pond, Tenn.)
also scored in the double digits for Milligan, with
13, 11 and 11 respectively.
Hot shooting was the key for Wesleyan, as they went
14-for-28 from three point range and guard Jennifer
Patterson led all scorers in the game with 28
points.
The loss drops the Lady Buffs to 1-4 overall and 0-1
in conference play.
The Milligan women will continue their AAC schedule
this Saturday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m. in the Steve
Lacy Fieldhouse against Virginia Intermont College.
