MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (September
12, 2006)---The Lady Buffs’ first game at
home in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse was a
disappointing loss to the Lady Cobras of
Virginia Intermont College by a 1-3 (25-30,
30-22, 26-30, 25-30) margin. The victory
improves the Lady Cobras’ record to 2-0 in
the Appalachian Athletic Conference and 3-4
overall, while the Lady Buffs drop to 3-4,
1-1 AAC.
In the loss, Christy Degan (Atlanta,
Ga.) totaled 21 digs for the Lady Buffaloes
of Milligan College, followed by Alison
Slagle (Bristol, Tenn.) with 19. Junior
Amanda Hyder (Johnson City, Tenn.)
accumulated 10 kills, while teammate Tara
Earhart (Bristol, Tenn.) had nine.
Credited with five aces was Emily Rigney
(Danville, Ky.), followed by Alyssa
Graber (Montgomery, In.) with two and
Kalyn Perrigan (Bristol, Tenn.) with
one. Freshman Meredith Lynch
(Lexington, Ky.) had a total of 39 assists
in the game, as well as one solo block.
Milligan head coach Kim Hyatt
remarked on the game, “We just did not
execute our game to the level we are capable
of. Virginia Intermont is a good team and we
should not have had so many bad serves like
the ones that we put in the net and out of
bounds.”
Milligan will be taking on conference rival
Montreat College in another home appearance
at Anglin Fieldhouse on Thursday night,
September 14. The game time will be 6:30
p.m.
