ASU Invitational Results
BOONE, NC (December 2, 2006) --- The
Milligan College men's and women's track and
field teams opened the 2006-2007 indoor
season at the Appalachian State Invitational
Saturday afternoon in Boone, N.C.
Competing with a limited squad of ten
athletes, the Buffs and Lady Buffs lined up
against Southern Conference programs from
Appalachian State, Western Carolina,
Davidson and Wofford. Other teams included
Charlotte, UNC Asheville, East Tennessee
State University, Gardner-Webb, Lees-McRae,
Mars Hill, and King College.
In the women's
mile, junior
Brittany
Bales
(Kingsport, Tenn.) finished fifth in a
lifetime best time of 5:34, while teammate
Emily
Schmitt
(Avon, Ind.) finished tenth. Sophomore
Nicole
Moore
(Boise, Id.) placed fourth in the women's
3,000 meters with a time of 11:36, also a
new lifetime best by nearly 20
seconds. Former Happy Valley multi-sport
standout Shanna
Raines
(Johnson City, Tenn.) won her heat of the
800 meters and finished tenth overall.
Both squads will travel to Murfreesboro next
Saturday,
December 9, for
the Middle Tennessee Christmas
Invitational.
