Buffs shut out No. 18 Virginia Intermont

BRISTOL, VA (September 27, 2006)--- The Milligan College men’s soccer team used two first half goals en route to a 2-0 victory over No. 18 Virginia Intermont College Wednesday evening, in Bristol, Va.

The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) win for the Buffaloes improves their conference record to 3-1 and to 5-4 overall while Virginia Intermont falls to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.  

Milligan’s goals came from a pair of seniors Stuart Makinson (Franklin, N.C.) and David Lilly (Coatbridge, Scotland). Makinson scored the first goal of the match in the 19th minute on an assist from Jason Watts (High Point, N.C.) with Lilly’s goal coming on a free kick in the 43rd minute.

Jordan Fode (Surrey, British Columbia, Canada) had four saves in goal for his third shut out in the Buffs’ last five games. 

The Buffs will travel to play the University of Mobile (Ala.) on Saturday, September 30. The University of Mobile was ranked 24th in the NAIA National Rankings this week.
