MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (October 30, 2006) --- The Milligan
College men’s soccer team, the top-seed and regular
season champion, started the 2006 Appalachian Athletic
Conference (AAC) Tournament with a 2-0 victory against
eighth-seeded Union (Ky.) College Monday evening at
Anglin Field.
Milligan, ranked No. 25 in the most recent NAIA National
Ratings, scored a goal in each half for the victory. The
first goal came 11 minutes in when senior
David Lilly (Coatbridge,
Scotland) headed a corner kick from
Said Abdi (Kismaayo,
Somalia) into the back of the net. The Buffs would not
score again until the 86th minute.

In
goal for the Buffs, senior
Jordan Fode
(Surrey, British Columbia, Canada) stopped all three of
Union’s shots to post his eighth shut out of the season,
a conference high.
With
the win, Milligan improves to 13-6 on the season and the
Buffs will advance the AAC semifinal to be played
Friday, November 3, in Chattanooga, Tenn. Milligan will
play the winner of the Bryan (Tenn.) College and
Virginia Intermont College quarterfinal match at 4 p.m.
followed by the other semifinal contest, between King
(Tenn.) College and Montreat (N.C.) College. King
advanced with a 5-1 win over Tennessee Wesleyan College
and Montreat shut out Covenant (Ga.) College 1-0 in
earlier action Monday.
