Buffaloes too much for Pelicans
LOUISVILLE, KY (September 1, 2006) ---
The Milligan College men’s soccer team handed NAIA Region XII
opponent Spalding University a 5-1 loss Friday evening in
Louisville, Ky. The Buffs’ senior co-captain
David Lilly (Coatbridge,
Scotland) provided two goals and one assist in the victory.
With the win, Milligan remains
undefeated at 2-0 while Spalding falls to 0-2.
Milligan started the scoring early with
a goal in the seventh minute from
Stuart Makinson
(Franklin, N.C.) The assist on the goal was from
Justin Fuller
(Plainfield, Ind.) Said Abdi
(Kismaayo, Somalia) scored his first collegiate goal in
the 29th minute with the assist coming from Lilly which
put Milligan in front, 2-0.
Lilly scored the first of his two goals
in the 58th minute unassisted. His other goal was scored
in the 84th minute with Fuller providing his second
assist of the game.
In the 78th minute,
Milligan’s Michael Johnson
(Indianapolis, Ind.) scored on a corner kick to put the Buffs up
4-0. Spalding scored their only goal of the match ten seconds later,
also in the 78th minute.
The Buffs’ senior goalkeeper,
Jordan Fode (Surrey,
British Columbia, Canada) recorded one save against Spalding in the
win. Milligan out shot Spalding 22-6 in the match.
Next for the Buffaloes is another road
contest against the University of the Cumberlands Saturday,
September 2. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. in
Williamsburg, Ky.
