--- The Milligan College men’s soccer
team saw their lone goal coming from
senior
David
Lilly (Coatbridge, Scotland)
in the 6th minute in a 1-0
Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC)
victory over Covenant (Ga.) College. The
match, held on Saturday afternoon at
Anglin Field, saw Milligan improve their
record to 1-1 in conference play and 3-2
overall. Covenant falls to 3-2 overall
and 0-2 in the AAC.
Freshman standout
Said
Abdi (Kismaayo, Somalia) beat
the Covenant defender then played the
ball to Lilly for his first-time goal.
Milligan’s senior goalkeeper
Jordan
Fode (Surrey, British
Columbia, Canada) was able to post his
first shut-out of the season. Fode kept
all nine of Covenant’s shots from going
in, preserving the Buffs’ win. Milligan
was able to attempt 13 shots in the
match.
“I am really pleased with the first half
performance and we lost some of our
composure in the second half,” Milligan
head coach
Dave
Dixon stated after the match.
“We were able to regain our composure
and finish the game with a strong push,
which is what good teams do.”
The next match for the Buffs is
scheduled for Wednesday, September 13 at
Brevard (N.C.) College at 4 p.m.
