MILLIGAN
COLLEGE, TN (February 23, 2005) --- The Milligan College
men's basketball team won it's first round AAC match-up with
Virginia Intermont (VI) 74-60 Tuesday night on the campus of
tournament host King College.
Milligan
shot 47 pct. from the field, led by AAC All-Freshman point
guard Yony Kifle (Grundy, Va.), who scored 19 points
on the night.
Kifle
also led Milligan with seven rebounds.
Freshman
Joe Brown (Blountville, Tenn.) had a solid scoring
performance with 18 points. Brown went 4-9 from three
point range. Senior forward Craig Emmert
(Cass City, Mich.) contributed 15 points in the contest to
go with seven rebounds.
As a
team, the Buffs shot 38 pct. from three-point range, and
out-rebounded Virginia Intermont 37-34.
Luka
Hocevar and Chris Wise had 12 points a piece to
lead the Cobras.
Milligan
moves to 17-14, and meets third seed Montreat College (N.C.)
at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday.
