BRISTOL, TN (February
24, 2005) --- The sixth seeded Milligan College Buffaloes
Basketball team lost to third seeded Montreat (N.C.) College
in the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament by the
score of 73-65 Thursday afternoon at tournament host, King
College. With the loss, the Buffs’ 2004-2005 season comes to
an ends with an overall record of 17-15.
Montreat opened out an early
lead over the Buffs and held a constant lead in double
digits most of the first half. Milligan trailed at halftime
by the score of 41-25.
The Buffs
mounted a strong late second half comeback as Milligan cut
into the lead. The 16 point halftime lead was chopped down
to three points with two minutes left. Montreat regrouped
and pulled way late to win by eight points.
Milligan
was led by freshman guards Joe Brown (Blountville,
Tenn.) and Yony Kifle (Grundy, Va.) with 16 points
while senior forward Craig Emmert (Cass City, Mich.)
scored 14 points and sophomore guard Adam Hughes
(Bluff City, Tenn.) added 11 points.
Montreat was led by Tim
Lewis with a game high of 18 points and grabbed 13
rebounds.
