Faculty & Staff
Faculty are so important at Milligan that the college has the rare distinction of being named not for its founder or location, but for a teacher. Josephus Hopwood, founding president of Milligan College, chose the name to honor one of his own former professors, Robert Milligan, who modeled the virtues of Christian discipleship and intellectual formation. Professor Milligan taught his students that learning should be used to develop the potential of Christian men and women to serve Christ and the world. That’s what success is all about — serving others.
More than 70 percent of Milligan's faculty have earned the highest degree in their field. They are respected and caring Christian scholars who are committed to scholarship, excellence in teaching, and the faith development of their students. While our faculty’s primary focus is teaching and mentoring, many are also involved in academic research, publishing articles and books, and serving in national organizations.
