Area of Business

Our business students want to make a difference. Whether they assume leadership roles or work behind the scenes, our approach ensures that our business graduates are prepared with technical skills required for solving complex business problems, as well as the ability to think critically about their role in being a positive influence in the workplace. We do all this from a foundation of sound ethical, moral, and Christian principles.

Curriculum
Core courses in the business curriculum — such as Principles of Management, Business Strategy, Business Ethics, Accounting, Economics, and Corporate Finance — provide students with the broad base of knowledge and level of technical competence necessary to succeed in a business setting. Other courses furnish the theoretical background necessary for the achievement of a particular vocational or professional goal, whether it be accounting, health care administration, management, marketing, international business, law, or sports management. Leadership and management skills that are necessary for successful planning, implementation, and control of the
business enterprise are also developed.

With every course taught from a Christian perspective, Milligan business graduates successfully reach their personal and professional goals, and they have a positive influence on others along the way as servant-leaders. Our business programs are rooted in the liberal arts tradition that underlies the educational philosophy of the entire college. Our approach assures that our students are indeed technically competent, but more importantly they are proficient in problem solving and critical thinking. We do all this from a foundation of sound ethical, moral, and Christian principles.

Internship/Co-op Programs
Supporting our classroom curriculum is an internship program, in which students receive college credit while earning valuable work experience by working part-time at corporations, banks, financial service firms, hospitals, and government agencies. Students can also choose to attend the 10-week International Business Institute in Europe or one of several off-campus study programs offered through the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.

Our Graduates
The majority of our graduates secure employment within two months of graduation or continue graduate studies at leading academic institutions. Our students work for many different types of businesses, including CPA firms, banks and financial services companies, health care organizations, and a variety of other companies, including some among the Fortune 500. Still other graduates secure employment within churches and religious organizations.
