Academic Program
Milligan offers students a Christian liberal arts education in a community of inquiry, responsibility and caring. The liberal arts are taught from a perspective of God's activity with humanity. The college's strong core curriculum, with an interdisciplinary humanities program and Bible courses, educates students toward the world in an open and constructive way, to lead and to serve.

Off Campus Learning
Most majors require internships, which offer college credit and work experience prior to graduation. Numerous off-campus learning opportunities and study abroad programs are sponsored by the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU).

67 full-time faculty have career-based experience and hold degrees from some of the most respected colleges and universities in the U.S. and abroad. More than 70 percent have earned the highest degree in their field. They are mature and caring Christian scholars who are committed to world-class scholarship, excellence in teaching, their Christian faith, and their students.

Spiritual Life
As a Christian community, Milligan offers a nurturing environment where students are strengthened and encouraged in their spiritual growth. Opportunities include weekly chapel, a convocation program, vespers, volunteer service and various Christian-based student organizations. Biblical truths are integrated into all classes. Students are active in many local churches.

Location
Located in scenic Northeast Tennessee, minutes from Johnson City in the dynamic Tri-Cities region. In 1999, the Tri-Cities, TN/VA was named an All-America Region.

Facilities
145-acre campus, recipient of 2000 Beautification Award from local Chamber of Commerce. More than 20 buildings of Georgian-Colonial architecture. 160,000 volume library. 1,200-seat chapel auditorium. Five 24-station science laboratories. 250-seat lecture hall. Nursing and occupational therapy clinical laboratories. 200-seat classroom auditorium. Photography darkroom. TV and radio production studios. Regulation athletic courts and fields. 25-meter swimming pool.

Technology

All residence hall rooms and on-campus apartments have a high-speed data connection to the Internet in addition to a private phone line. Students also have access to computers in various labs and technology classrooms on campus.

Recent On-Campus Projects
The Milligan College Campaign for Christian Leadership includes refurbishments to the residence halls and athletic facilities, new classroom space, instructional technology, the addition of the new Paul Clark Education Center, and The Central Campus Project, a $12-15 million project which includes an extensive renovation to Derthick Hall (the college's main classroom and instruction building Ñ completed Fall 2001). The college hopes to break ground next year on its new Campus Center, which includes a student center, theatre, and welcome area.

 

ATHLETICS

Athletics
12 intercollegiate sports at the NAIA level. Appalachian Athletic Conference. Highly competitive and nationally recognized athletic program. Milligan teams have won more than 16 conference titles and qualified for 12 national championship tournament berths since 1995.

Men's teams: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Tennis.

Women's teams: Basketball, Cross Country, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Volleyball. Active intramurals program.

 

ALUMNI

Alumni report that the college’s excellence in the liberal arts curriculum, faculty, student life, and leadership and spiritual development, laid a strong foundation for shaping their career paths and helping them excel. Milligan’s graduates are successfully employed as business leaders, educators, lawyers, healthcare professionals, ministers and missionaries throughout the world.
