Milligan College Distinguished Alumnus/a Award*
Nomination Criteria
Purpose
The Distinguished Alumnus/a Award exists to honor those alumni who have brought distinction to Milligan College through a lifetime of committed Christian service and through personal and professional accomplishments.
Qualifications
The candidate must have successfully completed a minimum of 24 credit hours at Milligan College.
• Graduates from a traditional undergraduate program must have received their degree at least twenty years prior to date of nomination; graduates from a non-traditional program or a graduate program must have graduated a minimum of 5 years prior to date of nomination.
The candidate must have accomplished deeds of significance to society.
The candidate must be of the finest Christian character.
The candidate's life and accomplishments must have brought distinction to Milligan College.
Nomination Process
Nominations must include a completed nomination form and data supporting the candidate's accomplishments. (This data may consist of statistics, newspaper clippings, letters of reference, etc.) Anonymous nominations will not be considered.
Nominations may be accepted from alumni, faculty, staff, administration and relatives of nominees.
Nominations may remain active for three nominating periods.
Nominations received by May 15 of the calendar year will be considered for the calendar year; nominations received after May 15 will be considered in the following calendar year.
The Selection Committee
The selection committee consists of the Director of Alumni Relations and college administrators. Nominations are accepted from alumni and friends of the college.
Milligan College Professional Excellence Award*
Nomination Criteria
Purpose
The Milligan College Professional Excellence Award exists to honor those alumni who have excelled in their chosen field. It also serves to encourage and increase awareness of recipients' notable achievements and contributions to their profession so that they might serve as an example for others to follow.
Qualifications
The candidate must be have successfully completed a minimum of 24 credit hours at Milligan College.
The candidate must have graduated at least ten years prior to date of nomination.
The candidate must have brought distinction to Milligan College through his/her career (i.e. business, education, missions, ministry, science, medicine, research, volunteer service, journalism, art, music, etc.).
The candidate must demonstrate high standards of integrity and Christian character.
The Selection Committee
The selection committee consists of the Director of Alumni Relations and college administrators. Nominations are accepted from alumni and friends of the college.
*The College sets and interprets nomination guidelines. The changing demographics of the Milligan community require that these guidelines be periodically reviewed and updated to more closely reflect our constituency.
