Associated Ladies for Milligan (ALM)

Associated Ladies for Milligan (ALM) was formed by Clarinda Phillips Jeanes ('71), wife of Milligan's current president -- Don Jeanes, because of her deep love for Milligan College and its ministry. The purpose of ALM is to raise scholarship dollars for the college, be an outreach to the campus community, and enrich women's ministry in the local community. The many chapters of ALM will work together to further the group's mission. All proceeds raised by ALM will be used to underwrite student scholarships at Milligan College.

Scholarships
The cost of a Christian education at Milligan is currently just over $20,000 for a boarding student and costs will likely increase each year. Approximately 92% of Milligan College students receive some kind of financial aid, totaling nearly $4 million each year. This is where each chapter of the Associated Ladies for Milligan can do its part. Through the combined efforts of ALM members, many scholarship dollars can be raised every year for students in need. Not only do a member's annual dues and financial gifts help underwrite scholarships at Milligan, but the time given in service at sponsored events can also help to raise scholarship dollars.

Campus Community
The Milligan College community is built on strong Christian relationships. Those relationships are built inside and outside of the college classroom. One goal of the ALM is to reach out to students on the college's campus by having activities that enrich student life. Students will remember the Milligan community they were a part of for years to come. The positive experiences students have and relationships built here help develop the future leaders of Milligan College.

Women's Ministry
Women's ministry is about women, young and old, meeting together to support each other in Christ - making better their own lives as well as those they touch. Women's ministry is growing rapidly in our churches and enriches the very foundation of Milligan College. Many women in the history of Milligan have been an important part of the college's vision and growth. By sponsoring Christian women's speakers, Bible studies, workshops and other events, the ALM efforts will enrich women's ministry in the local community.

In 2001-2002, more than 30 alumni, retirees, and friends of the college donated countless hours and days to the renovation of the historic Taylor/Phillips House. Today, the house serves as a hospitality and reception house. Additionally, it serves as a venue for the events and activities sponsored by ALM.
