MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 25, 2013) — The 13th annual Milligan College Film Festival will be held Friday, May 3, at 5:30 p.m. in the McGlothlin-Street Theatre of Milligan’s Gregory Center for the Liberal Arts.
The festival is a free, public event and will feature three short films by Milligan student filmmakers.
Matt Rees, a junior fine arts major, directed “The Divine Rom-Comedy.” His film weaves together the themes of teen romance, destiny and the apocalypse. He directed and shot the film on RED cameras at the LA Film Studies Center (LAFSC) during his semester-long study.
The LAFSC is part of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities’ BestSemester program. It is designed to integrate a Christian world view with an introductory exploration of the work and workings of mainstream Hollywood entertainment.
Brendan Shelton will present his film, titled “Home,” which tells the story of a young college student struggling with loneliness and isolation. Shot in various locations around East Tennessee, the film plays with clichés and stereotypes of the romantic comedy and drama genre. Shelton is a senior Bible major.
The festival also includes a screening of a film by Andrew Hollandsworth.
The filmmakers will briefly field questions about their work after each screening.
