Kingsport student exhibits ‘Colores de la Vida’ at Milligan

Tavarez_paintingMILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 4, 2013) — “Colores de la Vida (Colors of Life),” a fine arts exhibit by Milligan College senior Teresa Tavárez, opens Sunday, April 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Milligan Art Gallery, located in the lower level of Derthick Hall.

The exhibit will remain open through April 20. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

“My exhibit will include paintings, photographs, sculptures, graphic art and drawings that all deal with color,” said Tavárez, a native of Kingsport, Tenn. “I chose the name because people have always commented on how colorful my work is and so when looking for a theme and title, this seemed to bring everything together pretty well.”

In March, Tavárez, a fine arts major, was selected as a finalist in the Photographer’s Forum Magazine 33rd Annual College and High School Photography Contest. Her photograph will be published in a book titled “The Best of College and High School Photography 2013” and will appear in the Winners Gallery on the Photographer’s Forum website.

Tavárez’s winning photograph will be on display in the “Colores de la Vida” exhibit.
