Milligan to host CMC Live tour on Nov. 19 Concert includes performance by local Milligan graduates MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 5, 2012) — Students from The Contemporary Music Center of Nashville, Tenn., will present a concert on Monday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Milligan College’s McGlothlin-Street Theatre of the Gregory Center for the Liberal Arts. The concert is free and open to the public. The Contemporary Music Center (CMC) brings together college students from across the country to spend a semester in Nashville learning about popular music, the music industry, and technical aspects of music, video and lighting. The off-campus study program is, in effect, owned by the more than 100 schools that make up the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. In this way, the CMC is an extended classroom for each school, giving students the opportunity to pursue careers in the music industry. These students then bring their show on the road with a full production including professional lights, sound and video for a full, high-energy concert experience. CMC students will play a variety of music including pop, rock, folk, indie and electronic. In addition, a group of recent Milligan graduates will top off the concert with a performance. They include Tommy Parker (’12) of Milligan College, Tenn.; Lucas Schmidt (’12) of Jonesborough, Tenn.; Zach Nicol (’12) of Johnson City, Tenn.; and Shauna Slemp (’11) of Fall Branch, Tenn.
